Lands end to John o'Groats 'virtual' walk

[p]Thanks to all that have donated, I'm not even a quarter of the way there & you already smashed my original target of £874 so I thought I'd double it!! ....... read on.[/p][p]I am proud to be trustee & treasurer for Friends of Mikoroshoni Primary School, and so pleased that we can bring great hope and opportunities to the 260 children that attend our school from the poorest communities in the village of Shanzu, Mombassa, Kenya.[/p][p]One of the challenges we faced a few years back was keeping the children engaged during lessons, and discovered that many of them had not eaten properly for days and were therefore not able to concentrate. To overcome this we decided that any child attending MPS would receive one meal a day and so we started our feeding programme at Mikoroshoni. [/p][p]The yearly cost of this is approximately £8000, which equates roughly to £30 per child per year![/p][p]Many of these children have to walk many miles to attend school and so I thought I'd challenge myself and walk the distance from Lands End to John o'Groats, over a period of time. The tracking programme I am using (EndtoEnd LEJOG10) calculate the mileage to be 874, and I log my miles walked each day to gauge how I am doing. At an estimated 5 miles a day I hope to complete by 1st July, but will aim to do it quicker.[/p][p]It would greatly help and motivate me further with your support if you could donate any amount to keep me going. Just a pound would feed one child for one week! I'd love to reach at least £1 for each mile I cover.
