My story

[p]Hi I'm Kelly, and not only do I fundraise for MMK Mind but I also work there as a Mental Health Wellbeing Worker. My story isn't really to dissimilar to others. Five years ago I was diagnosed with EUBPD, which stands for, Emotionally Unstable Borderline Personality Disorder, scary label isn't it!? I came to Mind for help, to allow me to learn about my new diagnosis and start getting my life back on track. I went in to meet a member of staff to have a chat and walked out with a volunteer pack. I've seen how highly stigmatised mental health is, and after facing much discrimination myself, I wanted to do something to help raise awareness and end the stigma. I began to volunteer with MMK Mind for a while, until, I was asked if I would like the chance to become a permanent member of staff. Since then I have been able to be on the front line with an amazing group of people helping others. Its not always an easy job but its rewarding being able to offer support, knowledge and guidance to those in need. Because of MMK Mind I have found my passion in a career I truly care about and that doesn't judge me by my labels. I should probably mention that my co workers are awesome too! ;) [/p][p]Fundraising over the last 5 years has been fun yet knackering! So far I have done walks, inflatable obstacle courses, muddy runs, dye runs and one of the biggest obstacle courses that has also been voted the best in the UK. My aim is to continue fundraising but trying to find more adventurous way to do so. Hence, the abseil. [/p][p]I would be so grateful is you were able to donate, even if it were just £1. In the words of Tesco, every little helps! [/p]
