My story

[p]Thanks so much for visiting my page - and fingers crossed you are about to click Donate Now![/p] [p]Here's the thing .... back in 2004 my little bro Jos who was 17 came down with a really bad chest infection. He was really poorly and not getting over it. He started losing weight and had zero energy. My mum took him to the GP who fortunately realised this kid had never seen a doctor except for routine jabs, and this fit sporty teenager was unusually very ill. [/p] [p]The absolute last thing we were expecting after some blood tests was for the GP to show up on the doorstep the next day to break the news it was Leukaemia.[/p] [p]The NHS came into it's own, he was admitted the next day and started treatment. After gruelling chemo and blood transfusions we are grateful to say that he got himself into remission and has stayed clear ever since, but we are more than aware that without the vital work of specific Leukaemia charities that could well have not been the case.[/p] [p]Feeling the need to fundraise as a thank you for all the research into this disease I secured a place in the London Marathon in 2005 with a Leukaemia charity. We lost our dad when we were very young who was an amazing athletics journalist and running coach, so taking on the marathon felt the appropriate challenge. [/p] [p]I completed the marathon and had the time of my life, and always vowed I'd do it again one day. Fast forward a few years and I've got the running bug back and the time feels right to take it on again![/p] [p]I'm so pleased to have the privilege of running for Leukaemia UK to help fund the amazing work they do, I've told you how lucky we were with Jos' recovery, but we are also extremely aware that not every family has a happy ending and funding that research must continue.  [/p] [p]I really appreciate everyone's support and would like to say a huge thank you if you are able to donate.[/p] [p]Think of me pounding the pavements over the cold winter months and look out for me on marathon day - there will be a costume for sure![/p] [p][/p]
