My story

[p]This year due to Covid-19 all running events are being cancelled. As of writing this the only one not cancelled is the Great Scottish Run on 4th October. I'm expecting this to be cancelled too.[/p][p]Some race organisers have set up virtual runs. This involves running the half marathon distance on your own, recording the run with the likes of Garmin, Strava or similar. Then email the organisers with your time and optionally the route. [/p][p]I have decided to run the Alloa Virtual Half marathon on the same day as the original was planned. I will be running the full 13.1 miles in one go (some virtuals give so many weeks to completed the distance in stages).[/p][p]I already have one volunteer to run part of the way with me just to keep me company.[/p][p][br][/p][p]As in past years I will be raising funds for the Edinburgh Branch of Parkinson's UK. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's - a brain condition that turns lives upside down, leaving a future full of uncertainty. Parkinson's UK are there to make sure people have whatever they need to take back control - from information to inspiration.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Parkinson's UK want everyone to get the best health and social care. They bring professionals together to drive improvements that enable people to live life to the full.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Ultimately, they want to end Parkinson's. They inspire and support the international research community to develop life-changing treatments, faster. And they won't stop until they find a cure.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Parkinson's UK's work totally depends on the money their supporters raise and donate. It's only with our help that they can find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's. Together we can bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson's.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me, and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Parkinson's UK. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Please donate to this fantastic cause! I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
