My story

[p]*** Challenge complete - 4.5 Marathons Completed!!! ***[/p][p]*** Please keep donating to raise vital funds for Force and Breast Cancer Now ***[/p][p]Back in 2010 the most important person in my life was diagnosed with breast cancer.[/p][p]Following months of difficult treatment and her desire to survive, she found the strength to beat it and was subsequently given the all clear. In 2017 she had the devastating news that it had come back as a secondary cancer that had spread elsewhere.[/p][p]Somehow she has mustered up the same desire and strength to not give in to it, and currently things are being controlled with treatment.[/p][p]Throughout all this, apart from where treatment dictated, she has continued to work on the frontline as an NHS community nurse looking after people in their own homes. The current Covid-19 pandemic has meant she can no longer work in the community due to ongoing chemotherapy treatment, meaning she is immunocompromised, but is still busy working from home contacting patients via phone and supporting her colleagues.[/p][p]She is my wife Debbie and I am so lucky to have her in my life.[/p][p]She is amazing![/p][p][br][/p][p]The charities[/p][p]I am supporting Force Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care. I have chosen these two charities as they are close to Deb's heart having provided support to her in her times of need and also funding research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer.[/p][p]Force have a centre in the grounds of the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and help patients and loved ones who need physical, emotional, psychological and practical support. You can find more information about Force by visiting their website at https://forcecancercharity.co.uk[/p][p]In 2019 "Breast Cancer Care" and "Breast Cancer Now" merged to create a single charity that offers support services but also fund research projects into breast cancer. To date they have already invested £230 million into breast cancer research and are currently supporting 80 cutting edge projects worth £26 million. You can find out more information about Breast Cancer Care by visiting their website at https://breastcancernow.org[/p][p][br][/p][p]The challenge[/p][p]I have set myself the challenge to run the equivalent of 4 marathons during the month of June.[/p][p]I plan to run every day to complete the distance. This equates to about 6km a day for all 30 days. Whilst 6km is achievable to me, at my current fitness levels it is by no means easy and doing it for 30 days in a row will be hard.[/p][p]So the challenge is to run for at least 6km every day in June.[/p][p]I will be doing this on a calibrated treadmill (due to Covid-19).[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank-you for visiting my fund-raising page and reading all the way to the end. If you feel you would like to sponsor me to raise funds for these two important charities then Deb, myself and the two charities will be very grateful.[/p][p][br][/p][p]***Bonus challenge added, details below***[/p][p][br][/p][p]Progress:[/p][p]Week 1[/p][p] Day 1 = 6.07km (45:21 mins).
