My story

[p]To celebrate the birth of Cole Jacob Scott, I thought it would be a lovely idea to donate to two charities close to Kimberley's heart and leave messages for Kimberley, Justin, Bobby and the baby.[/p] [p]CMV, or Cytomegalovirus, is a common virus that can infect people of all ages. Once CMV is in a person’s body, it stays there for life. Most healthy adults and children will have no signs or symptoms and no long-term effects from CMV. It can, however, be very dangerous to unborn babies.  Congenital CMV is one of the main causes of children being born with permanent disabilities. 1 in 1000 babies will be damaged by CMV. That's almost 1000 babies every year. [/p] [p]CMV Action receives no government funding and is a relatively new and small charity. Donations will go to raising much needed awareness of CMV, producing support material for parents and resources for health professionals.[/p] [p]Kimberley said of her decision to become a Patron of CMV in 2014;[/p] [p]"For me, it’s personal, especially now being pregnant myself.   The CMV virus affected my friend’s son, which means he has permanent disabilities.[/p] [p]I have always wanted to do something for Christian and particularly the charity CMV Action, set up to support families affected by CMV and to raise awareness of the CMV virus.[/p] [p]Congenital CMV is one of the main causes of children being born with birth defects in the UK but pregnant women are not routinely told about it, nor the simple steps they can take to protect themselves."[/p] [p]Kimberley has, in the past, appeared on All Star Mr & Mrs and All Star Family Fortunes and very generously donated her winnings to CMV Action.[/p] [p]Kimberley recently became an ambassador for the UNICEF and Pampers 1 Pack 1 Vaccine and #1photo1vaccine campaigns which hopes to eliminate MNT (Mother & Newborn Tetanus). She said of the campaign; [/p] [p]“As a mum to Bobby, and expecting my second child later this year, I feel great empathy with other mothers around the world who, just as I do, want nothing more than to deliver a happy, healthy baby. The reason I’m so passionate about this campaign is that mums and dads here in the UK can make a very real difference by doing nothing more than buying the Pampers that they need for their little ones. 500,000 babies lives have been already saved from maternal and newborn tetanus. It’s phenomenal and makes me feel very proud of what we can achieve together."[/p] [p]Unicef makes sure more of the world’s children are fed, vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. They have done more to influence laws, policies and customs to help protect children. [/p] [p]Unicef receive no funding from the UN budget and relies entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising to fund their vital work to protect children in danger, transforming their lives and building a safer world for tomorrow’s children.[/p] [p]I know that, like Kimberley, her fans are also very generous and I know that most fans would like to send a gift to the new baby. I thought this would be a perfect way to combine both; supporting 2 important charities and a way that we can all "give".[/p] [p]Any donation would be very welcome by CMV Action and UNICEF UK, and if you donate, please remember to leave a message for Kimberley, Justin, Bobby  and the baby.[/p] [p]Thank you![/p] [p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
