Team story

[p]This year the six of us will be going the extra mile in support of the fantastic charity MacIntyre. In fact we will not just be going the extra mile but an extra 1000 miles!! On the 30th March we are taking on a massive challenge to raise money for MacIntyre School in Wingrave. We will be setting off from Lands End and cycling all the way to John O'Groats. [/p][p]The full route is 1000 miles broken in to 9 daily stages averaging around 112 miles a day. We will be climbing 15,000 meters over the 9 days. That is around 13 times up the 21 iconic switchback hairpins of Alpe d’Huez or almost twice the height of Everest![/p][p]The route takes us from the rocky cliffs and pounding seas of the rugged Cornish coastline, up through the colossal Cheddar Gorge, to the rolling hills and valleys of the Lake District and finishes with the majesty of the Scottish highlands along the Lochs of Great Glen to our finish line at the Northernmost point of the UK mainland. Land's End to John O'Groats will be an extremely tough challenge and we are asking for your support to help and motivate us to achieve this.[/p][p]MacIntyre School is truly a special place, providing excellent education and care for Children and Young People with Autism, Severe learning Difficulties and complex needs. We have a strong focus on the individual, providing personalised learning based on a holistic approach. Building positive, respectful relationship is at the core of our interactions with the people we support. Developing each child and young person’s interests and engagement in learning is fundamental to our approach. At MacIntyre School we believe that potential is limitless and that every child can and will achieve above and beyond. Please give anything you can to help us continue the outstanding work we carry out at MacIntyre School![/p][p]Macintyre is a national charity supporting 1200 people with a learning disability. MacIntyre School is purpose built and situated in Wingrave, a beautiful and picturesque village in Buckinghamshire. We provide education and residence for 52 weeks a year. For more information on MacIntyre and the school please see our website:[/p][p]www.macintyrecharity.org[/p][p]https://www.macintyrecharity.org/our-services/children-young-people/wingrave-school/[/p][p] Thank you for supporting us and wish us luck![/p][p] [/p]
