My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the muscular dystrophy campaign. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]I started running after my daughter was born in 2011, mainly as a way to get fit and lose some baby weight.[/p][p]I was bumbling along quite nicely until my lovely sister-in-law (and talented runner) challenged me to a 10k.[/p][p]I didn't achieve anything amazing in this first race but it did change my motivation to run to one of joy and immense satisfaction. Since then I take training and general fitness much more seriously. I love to cycle, I do Pilates twice a week and a high intensity interval class called meta fit as well as running most days.[/p][p]I have many a race under my  belt including some I'm really proud of such as the Reigate half marathon which I ran last year with my best running buddy in a time of 1:47.[/p][p]Unfortunately in December last year I was diagnosed with late on-set fascioscapulohumeral (FSH) muscular dystrophy. It is a slow progressing muscle wasting condition and there is a 50% chance I have passed it on to my children.[/p][p]The good news is that there is a treatment on the horizon being trialled this year.[/p][p]The other good news is that I have never been fitter and am using my diagnosis as an excuse to do things I might otherwise only have talked about doing! [/p][p]After saying for years I would never be interested in running a marathon I am now thrilled to be doing so.[/p][p]so..... It was a no brainier when I decided to do it that I would do it  for muscular dystrophy.[/p][p]Enough of the jibber jabber, thank you for you support and donation I know it will be put to good use. [/p][p]Laura [/p][p][/p]
