The first challenge is to cycle the first leg of the Women's Tour on Thursday 17 June. This route will start in Bury St Edmunds and will finish in Aldeburgh. Three days later I will be swimming a mile in the Great East Swim. Training for these two very different events will be a great challenge but one I am very excited for. All the money I raise from these events will go towards a fund called the ‘Laura Wright SportsAid Awards’. This fund will provide financial support to up-and-coming young athletes to help them to reach their potential in their sport.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;]These athletes are among the best in the country for their age but face enormous challenges. Being largely self-funded, they spend around £6,000 a year just to train and compete – most of which goes on travel expenses. I want to help relieve some of this financial pressure by providing financial awards to these athletes.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;]I am particularly honoured to be an ambassador for SportsAid and to join Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge in helping to shine a light on the achievements and potential of young athletes throughout the UK.[/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;]Please donate generously to help me help the next generation of British sporting stars![/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;]Laura x[/span][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
