My story

[p]Laura and Gavin[/p][p]Whilst training for a marathon, Laura and Gavin decided set themselves a new challenge - Race To The Tower.[/p][p]Not content with putting their feet up after running 26.2 miles, the next challenge will see them run across the hilly Cotswolds for 52.4 miles in search of Broadway Tower.[/p][p]Laura[/p][p]"I have been running for a few years, and Manchester Marathon was my third 26.2 mile race. I was pleased to completed it with a personal best of 4 hours 53 minutes. Prior to this, like Gavin, I have competed in numerous half marathons, 10Ks and 5Ks. I also completed the 3 Peaks Challenge.[/p][p]In the few years I have been running, I have been supporting the Haven Wolverhampton. The Haven supports Women and Children that have been suffering from domestic violence, helping these victims rebuild a better safer life. It was only natural that I wanted to continue to support such a worth cause in our Race To The Towers Challenge. My running buddy, Gavin, was supportive and we decided to do the Ultra Marathon as a team."[/p][p]Gavin[/p][p]"I started running in July 2017. This means that if, sorry, when I complete Race To The Tower, I will have gone from Couch To Ultra in less than two years![/p][p]Training for my first marathon at Manchester 2019 was tough going, given that 13.4 miles was my mental barrier. But with a great training programme from Coach Martin and support from Penkridge Runners running club, this barrier was smashed. Laura and I joined forces in our marathon training, which made it far more enjoyable and improved my training speed. I completed Manchester in 5 hours 20 mins, not too bad for a beginner.[/p][p]So some reason, on one long road, we downgraded Manchester to a training exercise by setting ourselves a new challenge - Race To The Tower, 52.4 miles![/p][p]And what a better way of doing than supporting The Haven."[/p]
