Team story

[p]"I hope the walk will raise awareness. I will do everything I can to help that process."[/p][p]77-year-old Luton Foodbank supporter Maggie Herod has bravely volunteered to walk 86km to raise funds for tackling hunger in our town.[/p][p]On Sunday 8 September, she will start the Lea Valley Walk, which follows the River Lea from its source at Leagrave to Limehouse in London. Maggie expects to complete the walk in six days, and will be accompanied by her rescue dog, Kiwi.[/p][p]Maggie is a keen walker, and loves to go rambling. She plans to complete the Lea Valley Walk in six days. Every stage of the walk is easily accessible by public transport, so if you would like to do the walk with her, or just join in for one day, please email info@lutonfoodbank.org.uk.[/p][p]If an 86km walk along the graceful River Lea doesn’t appeal, you can still support Maggie by sponsoring her efforts. Great fun walking from Hatfield to Hertford with you and Kiwi today Maggie. Well to John too for providing vehicle support and a cheery smile. We didn't see much of the river today but it was with us in spirit. You are a real inspiration!

Thanks to great people like you Margaret - no-one goes hungry! It's a scandal that we need Foodbanks, but thank goodness there are people who work as hard as you to make sure they function. Hope the walk goes well.
