My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]On the 9th of August 2016 our previously healthy 2 year old son Theo was admitted to Leeds General Infirmary via A&E with paralysis of his left arm and difficulty walking. By the 11th August he was given a diagnosis of Transverse Myelitis and transferred to an intensive care ward and by the 12th August he was completeley paralysed and on a ventilator fighting for his life. It's been a long road but after 10 months Theo came home and is now settled into his new life and nursery school. He is still partially paralysed and still requires his ventilator 24hrs a day but he is young, still growing and extremely determined. We are all optimistic for the future. Theo is a source of unending inspiration to me, through all his trials he has never lost his sense of humour and he never complains (except of course about his sister). I hope one day to be half the man he is now. [/p][p]The sense of impotence one feels as a parent, sitting back watching others care for your suffering child and being powerless to help is heartbreaking. This is my chance to do something and give a little back. The list of people, organisations and charities that have helped us along our journey is endless and so to pick one charity in particular is tough. The Brain & Spine foundation provides information and support for both the patients and their families, it was to their website we first turned as a resource for information and solace in those early dark days and so I have chosen to support them.[/p][p]I hope you can help me to support them through Virgin Money Giving. You can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you.[/p]
