My story

[p]Update 2nd May 2019[/p][p]I just wanted to say a big "thank-you" to all of you who've supported me in sponsorship, messages or just cheering me on. The London Marathon was a huge challenge and through it I've learnt more of who I am, and the me I want to be. It took me much longer to complete than I had planned, with a finish at 7hrs 6mins. But this has made me more determined to push through and complete it quicker next time! There will be numerous sermons preached on this experience. But the key message is: don't give up. [/p][p]There where two verses from the Bible that helped me push through - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and "those whose hope is in the Lord will renew their strength" I pray that whatever you're going through at this time, you hold firm to the truth and keep pressing on to the finish line...however hard that may feel at the time.[/p][p]I would like to thank Emily and the family for allowing and encouraging me to go out on long, very long training runs, the church and school families in Andover for putting up with me constantly mentioning Marathons, to Barbie for her multiple card stalls and fundraising with friends, for Rachel for being crazy enough to organise multiple car boot sales and bake like a loon for cake sales, for Jo Ponting, my amazing Physio who got me back up and running through injuries and all of you for sponsoring me and helping us find a cure and technology to help people live with Type 1 Diabetes, together we can make a difference. Thanks to JDRF for allowing me to be part of your team.[/p][p]Many thanks... see you all next time ;)[/p][p][img][/img][/p][p]Update, 26th April 2019.[/p][p]Overwhelmed by the support from friends, family and strangers. Everywhere I go, people are saying "you can do it well done" etc.[/p][p]I now have my race no. 50338 if you'd like to track my progress on Sunday. Its going to take me about 6 hours I think![/p][p]Rufus the bear will be keeping me company around the course.[/p][p]Thanks again[/p][p]Lee[/p][p][br][/p][p]October 2016, our lives were changed forever when our daughter was rushed into hospital in Diabetic Ketoacidoses, and our little angel very nearly joined the other angels![/p][p]Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition that strikes without warning and makes life extremely complicated- having to calculate every piece of food that you put in your mouth, and being constantly watched and regularly testing blood sugars and injecting insulin in order to prevent your body going back into diabetic ketoacidosis[/p][p]Annie-Joy is a very brave girl, who faces this battle daily - from day one, Rufus the bear was there to help us, and his support, campaigning and research done by JDRF gives us hope, along with our prayers, that one day soon, a cure will be found![/p][p]I’m delighted to be running as part of team JDRF and would really appreciate your support for Annie-Joy and the 400,000 people with Type 1 Diabetes in the UK.[/p][p]And don’t forget to watch next April and see if this dog-collar wearing Vicar makes it onto the tv.[/p]
