[p]Having completed the Bamburgh and London Marathons, it is now time for the Great North Run. Training has been hampered due to a few injuries, but I will finish it in aid of this fantastic charity LD:North East.[/p][p][br][/p][p]LD:NorthEast is a local charity based in Wallsend, working across North Tyneside supporting people of all ages who have a learning disability, many of whom have physical disabilities, mental health needs and often other challenges.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Their primary aim is to help the people they support to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, making sure they have access to opportunities many of us take for granted. They support people to make friends, have some fun and to feel good. This can include taking part in activities that support health, wellbeing and safety and to help people to live as individuals, being in control of everything they do. An important part of their work is making sure people are connected, which they know has a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Many of the people they work with say that their support is life changing and for some, life saving.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Across their personalised support services and various projects they currently support over 600 people each year. Demand for support continues to increase. As a result of this, they continue to develop their personalised support service, helping individuals and groups to access their community, as well as develop a range of projects tacking areas such as isolation in older age, hate crime, healthy living, support to families of very young children with complex needs and much more.[/p][p][br][/p][p]You have already supported me fantastically, but any more you can give from £1 to £10 to this fantastic charity will be gratefully received.
