My story

[p]On a cool, London, April day in 2016 I completed my first marathon and by doing so joined the 1% club. That’s the percentage of the global population that have achieved the marathon distance. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Not satisfied with the marathon or the monotony of pounding the pavements, I took to competing in Trail Ultra Marathons.[/p][p][br][/p][p]On the 24th May 2020, I will be joining 150 participants to run 400 km, ascending over 11,000 metres from Fort William, through the Scottish Highlands to Cape Wrath. It’s a barbaric race covering the toughest terrain that the UK has to offer [/p][p][br][/p][p]To achieve this I will need to be 80% fitter than I am today, learn how to cope with the challenges of multi day mountain running and learn how to navigate through a largely unmarked course. [/p][p][br][/p][p]To prepare for this journey I’ll be taking to the trails and competing in the following events:[/p][p][br][/p][p]2019[/p][p]The Summer White Rose Ultra - June 20 - 50km[/p][p]Race to the Stones - July - 100km[/p][p]Equinox 24- September - 100+km[/p][p]The White Rose Ultra- 112km - November [/p][p][br][/p][p]With more events to be added in 2020. [/p][p][br][/p][p]The British Heart Foundation and their mission to live in a world without heart and circulatory diseases, is a cause that is close to me; losing several family members before their time due to cardiac related conditions. It’s also one of the most astounding organs in the human body and the engine for endurance events such as the Cape Wrath Ultra. Put bluntly, heart disease and stroke are the largest global killer. Please donate to support BHF on their mission to prevent heart break. [/p]
