My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. [/p][p]I am running the London Marathon in memory of James Hedge. [/p] [p]James was the eldest child of our dear friends Bob and Maeve and a brother to Gemma, Patrick and Daniel.   We have known James since he was a toddler.  He went to pre-school, primary school and secondary school with Adam and was a friend to all our children. Our families have grown up together and we have spent many happy times together over the years – camping trips, New Year’s Eve parties, and family celebrations.[/p] [p]James died in January 2016 of Diabetic Ketoacidosis.  He had had Type 1 diabetes since the age of 3.[/p] [p] In James’ memory, I want to raise as much money as I can to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  So, on Sunday 23[sup]rd[/sup] April 2017, I am running the London Marathon to raise money for JDRF.   JDRF – the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation -  provides information and support to people with Type 1 diabetes and their families.  Their aim is to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and, ultimately, to eradicate it.  They also fund research for new treatments so the everyday lives of those with Type 1 diabetes can be improved.   [/p][p] I would be very grateful if you would help me raise as much money as I can for JDRF by sponsoring me.  Over the coming months I will also be holding some fundraising events including cake sales and quizzes and would welcome your support.  You can see details and follow my training on my Facebook page! [/p] [p]Type 1 diabetes is a chronic, life-threatening condition which has a lifelong impact on those diagnosed & their families.   It happens because the body’s own immune system attacks cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.   It affects 400,000 people in the UK, enough to fill Wembley Stadium more than 4 times over.[/p] [p][/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
