My story

[p]This May, I am attempting to run 145 miles from Birmingham to London. It scares me a little to say this and when asked I usually laugh as it seems such a ridiculous challenge but I like a challenge.[/p][p]So at 6am on Saturday 25th May, I will be leaving Birmingham, heading through Catherine-de-Barnes, Hatton, Warwick, Leamington, Braunston, Stoke Bruerne, Milton Keynes and many more places before finally arriving in London 145 miles later.[/p][p]Last year , when I ran 100 miles, I did so to support Pass the smile raising money to support the charities that had helped and supported my friends: Sarah, Scott, James, Harry and Ben. 'Ben was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in June 2018. Before diagnosis he was a bright, happy, cheeky boy. He remains the same despite the ongoing brutal effects of his chemotherapy treatment. Even when first diagnosed he wanted to Pass his Smile to other people to cheer them up. Pass The Smile was born. [/p][p]Treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma has not advanced for decades and survival rates are shockingly poor. As his parents, we believe it shouldn't be like this and more research into better, kinder, targeted treatments is desperately needed. In Ben's name we want to fundraise to try and help achieve this.' So this year I will supporting the research fund set up in Ben's name.[/p][p]I will also be raising money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer which is a charity that works with children and young people affected by cancer, enabling them to become physically active and improving their physical fitness, strength, mental wellness and confidence by giving them new bikes, specially adapted trikes, tandems and other equipment and support.[/p]
