[p]I am taking part in the London Vitality 10K on the 25th May this year, alongside other members of "Team Libs" so that I can raise money in memory of Liberty Grace Schurer, who is the sister to one of my close friends, Liv Schurer. I will be supporting Liberty's Legacy, as this charity is one that hits home for me, as I have a sister who would have been Liberty’s age today, and so I am determined to help this charity in anyway I can.[/p][p]Liberty was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma (a form of bone cancer) when she was only 13years old; and continued to fight this awful disease until she was 14years old and then sadly lost her battle with Ewings. The pain of losing a sister is something I can’t even imagine, and charity’s like Liberty’s Legacy aim to cure Ewings so that eventually no one will have to endure the unbelievable grief of losing a loved one. I have learnt about how strong Liberty was when undergoing treatment, and the determination she showed when fighting Ewings is something that is so inspiring. Honestly, my own sister is my best friend, and the amount of bravery Liv had to show after losing her sister to this disease is something I am so in awe of. [/p][p]After becoming aware of how little research and funding goes into childhood cancers, and bone cancers, I was even more eager to support a charity as amazing as this one, that continues to help thousands of people battling cancer. Liberty hoped that soon more research and funding would go into childhood cancers, and therefore Liberty’s Legacy was set up to continue her wish in her name. This charity helps fund the Bone Cancer Research Trust, and specialises in raising money for Ewings Sarcoma. Therefore, I am so grateful to have the chance to run this 10K in the name of an inspirational girl like Liberty, and raise money for such an incredible charity. [/p]
