My story

[p]Wednesday 13th December 2017 will see me achieve my 4,000th runstreak day, that is running 4,000 consecutive days, without missing a day, commencing January 1st 2007.[/p][p]Like my previous fundraising running challenges once again it is going to be a unique, quirky, crazy and dizzy challenge which will be tough both physically and mentally.[/p][p]To celebrate and commemorate this personal achievement, I intend to run 40.00 miles…. at Durham County Cricket Club’s Emirate Riverside Cricket Ground around the boundary, dressed in full cricketing whites and the first mile will include batting pads and bat, the remaining 39 mile carrying a cricket ball - HOWZAT![/p][p]On a personal note it has been an extremely difficult 12 months for my family and myself following the diagnosis of my Mother Mary with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. The symptoms are far more than confusion and memory loss and witnessing her aggresive and rapid deterioration has simply being heart-breaking![/p][p]Therefore my chosen fundraising charities are DementiaUK and Alzheimer’s Research UK [/p][p]Total cash raised will be equally divided 50% between both charities.[/p][p]Hopefully my forty mile running around in circles at DCCC can help to raise much needed awareness and funds for both of these worthwhile causes.[/p][p]All support and donations will be greatly appreciated by myself and both of these worthwhile charities.[/p]

Dementia is so tough for any family, much harder than any of the crazy things you do. After a tough year you’ve still had time to share some fun and be a great friend to everyone. Well done
