My story

[p]Another update: I completed the walk last weekend. There was a route change, which meant the actual pilgrimage was 40 miles. I walked 40 miles between Norwich and Walsingham. I got a blister 3 miles in, but carried on regardless. I hobbled the next 37 miles with a blister, so as you can imagine my foot is a little worse for wear now. It was for a great cause though and I don’t regret a single minute. Thank you to everyone who has donated. I will leave the page open for a couple of weeks because I know a couple of people wanted to donate after I finished the walk. Thanks again for all your donations. This money will go toward one of the YMCA youth and communities projects.[/p][p]*****************************************[/p][p]Just an update to let people know who have sponsored me. The walk is going ahead, but I have been advised to postpone it because of the extreme heatwave. It is not safe to walk that distance alone in this weather. I have spoken to the shrine and they are happy to move my booking. I will update you all as soon as I have decided on an alternative day. [/p][p]***************************************[/p][p]I have been working for the YMCA for the past 2 years and they do some amazing work with young people in Norfolk. We run youth clubs, youth projects, offer housing, family support and therapy. It is a fantastic charity to work for. I decided to do a pilgrimage to Walsingham after the school year finishes. I wanted time to reflect on the work I have done this year in all 3 of the schools that I work in. I decided to go on a reflective retreat. I have known this place since my childhood and I have often visited the shrine of Our Lady. I wanted to walk there from my home in Norwich. It is roughly 27-28 miles. I decided that if I was setting myself this challenge, I should dedicate it to a good cause. The money raised could be used to buy equipment for some of the many youth projects or offer outreach to families in need. So please give what you can to support this great charity.[/p]
