My story

[p]I, Lou Wilks, pledge to swim for 10 mins 3 x a week in temperatures below 5 degrees[/p][p]I've been doing coldwater exposure for 2 years but only started actually swimming at the end of last year(its a whole different level of commitment lol .)[/p][p]I'm so lucky to have our natural swimming pool at home which my husband built and has been a godsend for us all during lockdown while we can't travel ,as regular cold exposure has so many health benefits both mentally and physically .[/p][p]I've followed the Wim Hoff method for 2 years which also involves the horse stance warm up straight after my swim which you will see me do, and I also do regular breathwork sessions at different times away from the water. [/p][p]I'd like to support this charity as it helps teach young people,(some of who are already enrolled on the scheme in schools local to me and where I swim) to continue to help the community. Please could you sponsor me and I'll post every swim that I do.[/p][p]Set up in 2009, by John Sentamu, then Archbishop of York, the Archbishop of York Youth Trust (www.abyyt.com) exists to see a generation of young people empowered to transform society. Through working in partnership with schools, churches and communities, we develop opportunities for young people to grow in leadership, faith and character through volunteering and leading on social action projects across the country. The Youth Trust covers the whole of the North of England and has been growing into the rest of the country since 2020.[/p][p]Like all charities during the pandemic, the Youth Trust has been affected for obvious reasons. And the other people who are being affected are YOUNG PEOPLE, which are exactly the generation the Youth Trust is designed to help.[/p][p]We are asking you to give generously so the Youth Trust can survive and continue its vital work to help young people in the aftermath of Covid 19.[/p][p]All money raised will go towards empowering young people to rebuild and strengthen their communities.[/p]
