My story

[p]Thank you in advance all you wonderful people for reading about and supporting me in completing my first ever "virtual" fundraising marathon (walk) on 3rd October. 😜😁 The "virtual" bit means I will be attending an online version, completing it anywhere outside (but is completed 'alongside' the real London Marathon).[/p][p][br][/p][p]I am dedicating this marathon to my brother, Paul Moore, whom we lost last year, due to a sudden unexpected illness. The photo here is of Paul doing his favourite thing, cycling in the North Yorkshire Moors. Or as he would say having a "brilliant and fantastic" time! [/p][p][br][/p][p]I am fundraising for two of the causes closest to my heart. [/p][p][br][/p][p]British Tinnitus Association[/p][p]In 2017, tinnitus hit me out of the blue. It devastated me emotionally and physically for a long time and affected my work and personal life a great deal. I had no idea how debilitating the effects could be (and continue to be for many people). I cope much better these days and in fact now volunteer for the British Tinnitus Association to help others through tough times. I want to raise funds to support the BTA in their crucial work because tinnitus is a pretty common condition affecting around 1 in 8 of us, but gets little attention and no direct government funding.[/p][p][br][/p][p]NHS - York Hospital ICU [/p][p]I want to raise funds to thank the NHS, specifically York Hospital ICU, where my brother sadly passed away after suddenly becoming seriously ill. The ICU at NHS York hospital looked after Paul with the utmost care and compassion during a very difficult time for the NHS whilst simultaneously dealing with Covid19 and other serious conditions. They looked after our family with great sensitivity and respect during the 4 weeks that Paul struggled to hold onto his life. Our whole family thanks them from all our hearts.
