Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page.[/p][p]Lou Parish and John Mills are running the 2012 Virgin London Marathon for the charity - Asthma UK (http://www.asthma.org.uk/)[/p][p]John was lucky enough to gain a ballot place, whereas Lou approached Asthma UK for a golden bond place and was accepted. We are trying to raise at least £5000 for the charity.[/p][p]We chose this charity as John is an asthmatic and Lou has worked for the last 20years on delevoping drugs to improve the lives of asthma sufferers.[/p][p]You are probably not aware but 3 people a day die from asthma. Asthma UK  is the charity dedicated to changing this. They fund research and offer support because 90% of asthma deaths are preventable[/p][p]5.4 million people in the UK have asthma.  Every 7 hours somebody in the UK dies from asthma. Around 250,000 people have severe asthma meaning that they don’t respond to conventional treatments and their lives can be a constant battle against the symptoms of asthma.[/p][p]Asthma can be serious – there are nearly 80,000 hospital admissions for asthma every year.[/p][p]Asthma UK is campaigning for free prescriptions in England, funding research into cures and treatments and providing information and advice to help people to manage their asthma.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
