My story

[p]Dear all[/p][p][br][/p][p]I am finding it hard to find the words to share this with you all, but heartbreakingly, Kelly suddenly lost her fight with cancer earlier this week. As you can imagine Bev, and her brother Matt, and their family are coming to terms with the fact that Kelly who was courageous, wonderful and beautiful, who fought so strongly, is no longer with them. Bev and I had asked people to join us for a run this Saturday, 15th February at Gunnersbury parkrun - this will still go ahead and for everyone who takes part, Plank PR will be donating £10 to this fund. [/p][p][br][/p][p]I will, of course, be continuing my London Marathon journey in memory of Kelly and any donations are still gratefully received.[/p][p][br][/p][p]The money raised will continue to support the amazing work of Yes to Life Charity which was so crucial during Kelly's care. We will also be discussing in due course how some of the funds could directly help Matt and Kelly's three beloved young children.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bev would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. [/p][p][br][/p][p]We are both so grateful. [/p][p][br][/p][p]With all our love Bev and Lou xxx [/p][p][br][/p][p]Hello dear friends and fellow beings,[/p][p]My insanely wonderful very best friend of 35 years and counting, Lou, is running in the London Marathon 2020! [/p][p]Now anyone that knows Lou will know that this is a lifelong dream, running is her absolute everything, but what you probably don’t know is that the reality of why she has been incredibly fearless in jumping at the chance to run the most gruelling 26.2 miles is actually a frightening nightmare.[/p][p]In the summer of 2018, out of the blue, my beautiful sister in law, Kelly, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer and tumours on the liver, ovaries and top of the urethra. One and a half years ago, at 38 and with three young children, she was given two years to live.[/p][p]After nine-hour long emergency surgery to resect Kelly’s bowel, a radical hysterectomy, 20l of fluids to combat sepsis and a 12 day stay in hospital in August 2018, Kelly and my brother Matt were informed by Kelly’s oncologist that the conventional treatment the NHS could offer moving forward would be palliative.[/p][p]It has been an extremely hard and painful 18 months, watching as a fun-loving, spirited family’s lives have been turned completely upside down, shaken to breaking point, with the course of their futures possibly changed forever.[/p][p]Kelly is a super special, brave and strong soul, and was determined that it’s not her time to leave us all, so Kel and my brother had to become overnight experts in cancer and in light of the diagnosis chose very bravely to fight this disease naturopathically.[/p][p]At this same time, it was through a serendipitous meeting in the school playground that Matt was also reminded of the brilliant charity Yes To Life, who took them under their wing and have played a key role in helping, informing and supporting them both on this crazy journey.[/p][p]I know that this ruthless disease is now everywhere, with the statistics now saying one in every two people will now be affected by cancer; many of you reading will most probably sadly have comparable experiences to share. There are also amazing stories out there where late stage cancer has been fought successfully using naturopathy, completely changing the course of peoples’ futures.[/p][p]To battle this illness, and with the help of Yes To Life, Kelly has been having Hyperthermia treatment (target energy waves that weaken the cell walls allowing the immune system to fight), Vit C IV’s, Mistletoe IV’s, Ozone therapy, daily infrared sauna sessions, herbs, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Hyperbaric O2, Hydrogen therapy and many many other things – all of this treatment has had an amazing effect and has slowed the existing growth. But Kelly is absolutely not out of the water yet – it’s still a very scary time, treatment is vital and very much ongoing and of course, doesn’t come without great expense.[/p][p]Kelly is fighting. She cannot leave us, my brother Matt, or Oliver (10), Elliot (8) and Margot (4) without their mum. Thank you, so much, for taking the time to read this story - this is why my super-woman bestie Lou will be fulfilling her dream, running the 2020 London Marathon, for Yes To Life and Kelly. Fundraising means we can help Kelly say Yes To Life; anything you feel you can donate (and don’t forget the all-important Gift Aid if it applies!) to help get Lou to the finish line (in sub 4 hours - she does nothing by halves!) and to help give the invaluable support for Kelly and those in similar positions by providing the vital funds to keep fighting this disease would be beyond amazing, and appreciated more than ever.[/p][p]Thank you, for listening, supporting and helping Kelly fight for her Life.[/p][p]X[/p]
