My story

[p]On 19th June 1990, aged 12, my life changed forever. After suffering a severe seizure due to a viral infection in the brain, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Several years later it was discovered that I actually have Complex Epilepsy Syndrome as I have several different types of seizures and whilst i am currently being assessed for brain surgery i will more than likely have the condition for life. In the beginning I was angry because I couldn't understand "why me?", but with the help and support of family and a few close friends I learnt to accept my condition. Over the past 30 years, I have needed and received specialist care and support from several consultants and the Epilepsy Society and it has been agreed with them that i will continue to do so for the rest of my life. I have therefore decided that i would like to run my first and possibly only marathon to raise awareness for the charity and funds for the ongoing research into epilepsy and treatment of people with the condition. Thank you for your support in advance.[/p]
