My story

[p]Update - 4 May 2018. Big thanks to Central Stairlifts for their donation of £150, and to Legal and General for their charity match of £500. I am overwhelmed by the total amount I have managed to raise! [/p][p]Update - 29 April 2018. Thanks to all of my amazing supporters. I’ve raised such a fabulous amount, and my total is still rising. I finished the hottest London Marathon on record in 05:49:17. What an awesome day! [/p][p][br][/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p][br][/p][p]This is it - The London Marathon. It doesn't get any bigger than this for me! In February 2008, at 36 weeks pregnant I was diagnosed with stage 2 non-Hodgkins lymphoma. I had a 12cm mass in my chest cavity and cancerous lymph nodes in my neck. I was really poorly. Within 10 days I had had Jacob by cesarean section, undergone bi-opsys, CT scans and numerous blood tests and had begun 6 months of chemotherapy. 2018 marks ten years since diagnosis and getting the all clear. I wanted to mark it in a big way - and this seems pretty epic! Most people willl know that I enjoy running, but I really am a 5-10km girl. I have completed one half marathon in October 2015, but I am no Paula Radcliffe! This run is for all of those people and families who have to endure the heartache and misery that a cancer diagnosis brings. I was lucky, but it doesn't mean that we didn't (and dont still) suffer. I'm running for The Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust - for little Grace, who will be forever 4. Grace's family are amazing - setting up the Trust in the wake of Grace's death to raise awareness and critical funds to contribute to research grants into rare solid childhood tumours. Childhood cancers effect 1 in every 285 children before their 20th birthday and is the biggest cause of death. However, it is still massively underfunded, and especially in areas such as rare solid tumours. I am truely honoured to have been introduced to Grace's mum Jen. This run is also for Grace, her family and friends. I hope you can join me in supporting this wonderful charity. [/p][p]#runningbecauseican[/p][p]#runningforgrace[/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
