My story

[p]In 2020 I had two miscarriages, which were pretty tough at times but I fell pregnant again later that year. By late January I started getting a lot of pain in my stomach, at first they thought it was constipation but after heading to the Early Pregnancy Unit for what we hoped was a reassurance scan in Bath, they found I had an ectopic pregnancy in my left fallopian tube that had ruptured and I had 500ml of blood sat in my stomach. I was devastated, not again please...They told me I needed to have my tube removed, my fertility was going to be reduced and I needed to have emergency surgery that afternoon (or I would have possibly died). [/p][p]Whilst waiting for surgery I was given the amazing information from the ectopic pregnancy trust (EPT) it was so helpful and reassured me with all the questions I suddenly had. After recovering from surgery and beginning the emotional healing journey of recovery, I had such a lovely call from the EPT, a lady had been through a number of miscarriages and had an ectopic. She reassured me that all my feelings were normal and talked so openly about her own experience with me. She had gone onto have children and gave me hope! What a brave and kind thing for her to do! [/p][p]Whilst in hospital and unable to sleep, I decided to focus on something positive, I love gardening and needed something to help me heal! I thought that by growing some plants for other people and trying to make my garden beautiful, it would help me and others to smile, I could also help to raise awareness of this traumatic condition. 1/5 people can suffer PTSD after an ectopic and 20,000 people are admitted to hospital every year for it! We need to talk about it to help other people realise they aren’t on their own ....any money you can donate will go a long way to helping this amazing charity and to ensure other people can also have such important support and information. [/p][p]I am hugely grateful I’m here and can share my story! Im planning to try and get a greenhouse to help me with this but its big challenge. You can follow my story on instagram under roses2rhubarb and if you would like any plants for your garden, let me know.[/p][p]Thanks for supporting me and the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.[/p]
