My story

[p][img][/img]About this time last year I discovered West Country legend, (now Pride of Britain fundraiser of the year 2019!) Adventureman Jamie McDonald, co founder of the Superhero Foundation and I became enthralled as I followed his journey across the USA. Fully inspired, I started toying with the idea that I could do something to help.[/p][p]Through the Superhero Foundation I discovered 4 year old Amelia-Rose, a little girl sadly diagnosed with Spastic Paraplegia, with a simple dream.. the dream to walk. [/p][p]As inspired as I was by Jamie, this brave little girl was incredible; smiling and determined. I was truly blown away by her indomitable spirit.[/p][p]Amelia has recently undergone an expensive operation in the USA. I'm thrilled to say that the SDR operation has proven to be wonderfully successful and her progress since has been nothing short of incredible; however, for this progress to continue, Amelia-Rose requires constant, ongoing daily physio and treatment which sadly doesn't pay for itself.[/p][p]Now over the years I've been dogged by sporting injuries, and I'm certainly in no position to run across continents, but I'm no stranger to walking, something I suddenly realised I was taking for granted.[/p][p]So here's the plan:[/p][p]On Wednesday December 18th I'll be setting off from Edinburgh Castle, en route to Glastonbury, Somerset, hopefully in time for Christmas dinner; a distance of 386 miles (621 km)! With the exception of 3 neatly located guest houses on the way, I'll be totally self supported, carrying everything I need on my back.[/p][p]I clearly won't be dicing with mountain lions (though a badger'll give you a nasty nip!), my biggest enemies are likely to be the wind and rain, low temperatures, sore feet and general fatigue, but this will most certainly push my limits![/p][p]Oh, and as I recently revealed, I'll be doing the whole thing dressed as a jolly old fat man! No, not Boris Johnson! Father Christmas himself, Mr S Clause![/p][p]So please donate, help to keep me motivated and together let's make #AmeliasDreamToWalk a reality![/p][p]To follow Amelia's progress or for more information, please visit[/p][p]https://www.facebook.com/ameliasdreamtowalk/[/p][p][br][/p]
