My story

[p]On the 27th August, my Brother, Rich, and I are setting off the on the biggest challenge the uk has to offer - Lands End to John O’Groats cycle. A 980 mile cycle from the bottom, to the the top of Great Britain. We are doing this in support of Child Bereavement UK. [/p][p][br][/p][p]11 years ago, aged 12 and 13, we returned home from school to the news that our Dad had collapsed at home and passed away. That day devastated us. For many years it troubled us and only more recently have we been to talk more openly about it, our emotions and it’s impact. Seeing how much the support of each other, our family and friends, and the power of talking has helped we hope to raise awareness of a charity that can help others going through a similar experience to have the support they need.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Child Bereavement UK is an amazing charity, supporting families when a baby or child of any age is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Their vision is “for all families to have the support they need to rebuild their lives, when a child grieves or when a child dies”. Some of their work includes: providing parent support groups for baby and child death; a young people’s advisory group for bereaved young people; a confidential national helpline; and training more than 9,000 professionals every year, helping them understand and meet the needs of grieving families. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Last year the charity had its busiest year, supporting more young people, parents and families than ever before; training more professionals to provide better care; and the helpline had the most calls yet. Please help Child Bereavement UK continue to grow and achieve its vision of reaching every family and young person needing their help.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you.[/p][p][br][/p][p]If you are reading this, and are currently going through bereavement, please contact the helpline on 0800 02 888 40. The power of talking is incredible.[/p]
