Team story

[p]For this year's Ride4Life we are joining forces with our parent company, The Ardonagh Group, to support our national charity of the year, Mind.[/p][p]Mind’s mission is simple. They won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. This fantastic organisation helped over half a million people through their local services and another 76,000 via their helplines in 2017.[/p][p]There are volumes written linking the benefits of cycling with mental health and great stories. From Leigh Timmis who rode around the world in 7 years, initially fighting depression but now a motivational speaker to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.[/p][p]So, as active cyclists, we wanted to raise awareness and funds, whilst being advocates for the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle to support mental well being. [/p][p]The challenge...[/p][p]This year’s Ride4Life challenge is to ride from the Eiffel Tower to ‘The Lamb’ in Leadenhall Market in 24 hours, arriving appropriately on Friday the 13th. [/p][p]We aim to get in the saddle at around midday on Thursday the 12th July, make our way out of Paris and head North West (and gradually uphill) to the port of Dieppe. Assuming we don’t get lost en-route that looks like 110 miles on the bike and 4,400ft of ‘lumps’ to be negotiated.[/p][p]Sailing at midnight, the team will spend the next four hours stretched out on the floor of the overnight ferry before landing at Newhaven suitably refreshed and ready to jump back on bikes. The Downs & Surrey Hills await![/p][p]So there it is 170 miles long and 7,500ft up (give or take a little) with a little sleep deprivation rolled in. It’s not meant to be easy! So please show your support to help us along.[/p][p][br][/p]
