Team story

Ride4Life in memory of Andy and Damien4 September 2020[p]None of us ever thought we would be updating the Ride4Life website with this news, but it is with great sadness that we have to.[/p][p]Tragically, on the 1st of June this year, both our founding Ride4Life organiser Andy Coles and his close friend and integral team member Damien Natale lost their lives when involved in a road traffic accident whilst training for this year’s Ride4Life event.[/p][p]Whether they were raising money for charity, creating and putting on events for others or just ensuring their mates had experiences of a lifetime, they were truly without equal and will be missed greatly by everyone who knew them.[/p][p]It is after much soul searching and with the blessing of Andy and Damien’s family that we can announce today the new date for the 2020 Ride4Life event.[/p][p]On Friday the 4th of September, we will be riding in memory of Andy and Damien.[/p][p]Raising money through cycling was a passion of both Andy and Damien and whilst the event will never be the same without these incredible guys, we, along with their family and friends, want to continue the Ride4Life movement.[/p][p]Our original plan to cycle from the Cheltenham Towergate Lifestyle office to our iconic finish line of Leadenhall Market (details below) has been disrupted by the current COVID climate.[/p][p]In its place we have devised a course which covers the same mileage over a series of routes around the Doncaster office where the majority of Andy’s colleagues and the Lutine team are based. The route encompasses training rides that we have used for previous Ride4Life events which Andy rode with us and whilst not the original planned rote seems a fitting alternative.[/p][p]The charity of choice remains and we are delighted to be working with Cyclist Fighting Cancer (CFC) as this year’s partner. Their work supporting children and families at the hardest of times is truly inspiring and is something that was close to Andy’s heart too.[/p][p]Please take a look at their website to find out more about the amazing work that they do. If you would like to donate please visit our donation page.[/p][p]The route and course profile for the event are as follow and the keen eyes will notice the course only takes us to c.100 miles this is because we are planning on finishing the final c.15 miles of the event at the Doncaster Dome cycle track.[/p][p]COVID restrictions permitting, we would welcome anyone who has a bike and helmet to join us on the track for 1 or all final 15 miles, we plan to be on the track from 4pm to 5pm. Alternatively if anyone would like to welcome us home at the end of the ride we always appreciate the support and we will be enjoying a ‘cheeky one’ (as Andy would always say) or several (as the case would always be!) after the event to remember the guys.[/p][p]We will keep you updated with the plans as we get closer to the date and would like to thank all everyone who has supported this event in the past and will do so in the future.[/p]We look forward to the event, raising money for CFC and remembering Andy and Damien.[p][br][/p][p]The Ride4Life Team[/p]
