My story

[p][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]I am thrilled and rather humbled to have been  given a place to run the[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]London Marathon 2018, to raise awareness and support the amazing charity[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]that I work for as an Occupational Therapist; COMBAT STRESS.[lt]span[gt] [/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]Combat Stress is a registered charity in the United Kingdom offering[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]residential and community treatment to former members of the British Armed[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]Forces suffering from a range of mental health conditions including Post[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]Traumatic Stress Disorder. Combat Stress provides treatment for all Veterans[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]suffering with mental illness free of charge and relies on donations from[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]the public to continue its amazing life enhancing, and often lifesaving[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]work.[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]Having been born and raised in a military family, I have first-hand[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]experience and knowledge of the stresses, disruption and difficulties that[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]military life can entail, along with the joys and camaraderie that service[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]personnel share. Working with Combat Stress over the last year has inspired[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]me further and I feel passionately that the astonishing work we do with[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]veterans must continue. But this needs funds, lots of them, and this is[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]where you can support me to ensure that Combat Stress can continue to[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]provide the excellent treatment to those who need it.[lt]span[gt] [/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]Running 26.2 miles will be a massive challenge for me, both mentally and[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]physically. I have recently suffered a complicated injury that kept me off[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]training for months but I'm back on it now and am determined to achieve my[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]dream of running and completing the London Marathon - one of the greatest[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]races in the world!  Some people question my  sanity and ability to train[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]and achieve this - but to those doubters I challenge them to put their money[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]on me and let me prove them wrong! To those who think its attainable (albeit[/span][lt]br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;" /[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px; text-size-adjust: auto;]it a bonkers task!)
