Team story

[p]On the morning of Friday 7th September, 30 middle-aged women and men (in Lycra), will depart Innholders’ Hall at the crack of dawn, bound for Champagne to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Master Innholders and to raise funds for the Master Innholders Charitable Trust (MICT). For several MI’s this is a well-trodden path however this year’s trip will counterintuitively take the intrepid cyclists out of London to the north-west, stopping first for an extended lunch break and tour of The Edge Hotel School courtesy of SJS Oliver Brown and then heading for The Pier in Harwich to be hosted for supper by Paul Milsom MI before boarding the overnight ferry to Rotterdam. On day two the cyclists benefit from Holland’s coastal cycle paths, a daily total of 187km punctuated by short ferry crossings from The Hook of Holland to Maasvlatke and Vlissengen to Breskens, the final destination being Kortjik where the group will pause again for dinner, a couple of medicinal Belgian Beers and an overnight stay. The third day is already causing sleepless nights for some of the riders, with 220 hilly kilometres to be tackled to reach the final destination of Rheims. Fear not for your fellow MI’s though, as Champagne Taittinger have come up trumps again and are organising a very special dinner to celebrate the team’s achievements, accompanied by sufficient Taittinger to numb the inevitable aching limbs resulting from this 544km challenge![/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
