Team story

[p]Mission Motorsport, The Forces’ Motorsport Charity was launched on the 1st March 2012 in order to help those affected by military operations by engagement through recovery sport.[/p][p]The motto, Race Retrain Recover is as relevant now as it was in 2012. It refers to the charity’s formal roles to Defence - as the lead for recovery motorsport, in the provision of training, and as relationship managers to the UK automotive industry to secure new careers for those leaving the Services.[/p][p]The tough decision to postpone Race of Remembrance 20 was a very difficult call. The event provides the attendees with much more than just a race. The coming together, camaraderie and challenge of simply getting through the weekend is a welcome relief for many who're fighting personal daily battles.[/p][p]Mission Motorsport faces a shortfall of £50,000 after cancelling the race due to COVID-19, can you be a part of helping them get across the finish line?[/p][p]To help the cause, the MM Thursday night racers are undertaking an online racing simulator homage to RoR20.[/p][p]This will consist of 16 competitors completing a 6 hour endurance race around the 24 hours of Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe. Time will be accelerated by a factor of 4 to provide a full 24 hour experience of day-night-day.[/p][p]All competitors will be stopping the race at the halfway point and entering the Pitlane to be stationary for 1100. At this point we will mark the occasion with a minutes silence and all follow the Mission Motorsport live streamed Remembrance Ceremony. Once this is completed, the racing will recommence and the remaining 3 hours completed.[/p][p]The Thursday night racers have all benefited incredibly from the Thursday night racing offered by MM throughout the 2020 lockdown period and beyond. It has been an invaluable platform, enabling all members to relax and share in the laughter and occasional friendly banter that seems to have been missing for a lot of this year.[/p][p]If you can, please help us to support Mission Motorsport in continuing their invaluable work.[/p][p]Many thanks, team Thursday racers......[/p]
