Team story

[p]Tom Maclure and James Tolputt both completed the Geneva Marathon on May 6th to kickstart a fundraising project for a Sports Field for Imprezza Academy in Western Kenya. Imprezza is a secondary school that provides education for children in poverty, especially supporting disadvantaged students from remote rural locations. The Sports Field will enable Soccer and Athletics for girls and boys, along with Netball, Hockey, Cricket and Rugby - a theatre for dreams! We made contact with Operation Imprezza, a Devon-based local charity set up to oversee long term fundraising for the academy. They identified this as the most pressing need of the school. ([/p][p]James and I have been great friends for 30+ years. We decided that as we would both hit the big 5 0 before the end of May, we should celebrate with our first joint marathon..mad fools we were! We've always loved the lure of trying out sporting challenges, be it bunjee-jumping in New Zealand or canyoning and climbs in France in the 20s, rafting the Nile in the 30s and sky-diving in our 40s..and so the habit goes on, as does the mid-life crisis! As we are very passionate about supporting sporting opportunities for girls and boys, we think this is as an especially worthy cause. It will provide many new outlets and aspirations for the students and bring immense joy, whilst overcoming a pressing requirement for the academy´s future security. High time too others benefitted from our own high jinks![/p][p]The school is under real pressure to acquire a Sports Field in order to secure official status and to qualify for possible support from the local education authority (also meet new Kenyan government school sport requirements). Excitingly, a plot of land close enough to the school has recently become available and would be really suitable - so now the funds need to be raised to purchase it. The total financial requirement to fully purchase the plot identified is a bit higher, but we know we will be truly kick-starting the process right away with our target sum. If need be, we'll pursue another ´Entsurprise´ down the line to complete the job but this specific project is certainly the very best motivator! Please come join us![/p][p]Feel free to contact myself or James by email ( / with any questions. If you are able to support us, we thank you immensely for that![/p]
