Team story

[p]Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club members are taking part in Langley and Iver Rotary’s Moonraker Challenge on Saturday, 17 November 2018 (originally due to take place in March, it was postponed due to snow!) We will be undertaking a 10 mile (with no mistakes!) night orienteering exercise in the Chiltern Hills.[/p][p]The 2015 earthquake in Nepal has long faded from the news but the huge task of rebuilding goes on. In October 2017, club member Claire visited a primary school in the Gorkha hills in a remote area close to the epicentre of the 2015 earthquake. The school suffered extensive damage in the earthquake, with 2 buildings completely destroyed. Along with Faringdon and other Rotary clubs, we are assisting with funding the building of a classroom block, toilet block and kitting out a resource centre with computers. The project is being overseen by Kopundol Rotary Club in Kathmandu. We are continuing to raise funds to support the ongoing needs in Nepal.[/p][p]50% of the sponsorship funds we raise from Moonraker will go to Langley and Iver Rotary's nominated charities – Thames Hospice and Prostate Cancer UK and 50% is raising money for Nepal and other charitable activities by the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Bridge Trust Fund, registered charity number 1166101.[/p]
