Team story

[p]Our Manorview Marathon Men ran the London Marathon on 22nd April 2018. [/p][p]Our MD Steve Graham, and our Head of Procurement, Steve Buckley ran to raise money for two great Scottish charities.[/p][p]The charities they support are When You Wish Upon a Star (Scotland)and CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.[/p][p]They set themselves a target to raise £6,000, to be split between the two charities.[/p][p]The Manorview Group has a portfolio of nine bespoke hotels located throughout the central belt of Scotland. The company has a charitable ethos where all venues work with charities to fundraise and raise awareness.[/p][p]In 2017, the Group raised over £48k which was divided between a number of good causes, and the Group also works closely with the two charities they ran for.[/p][p]Steve and Steve chose to run for these two children’s charities to show support for the care, attention, valuable and incredibly inspiring work they do to support children and their families across Scotland. The services they provide offer a vital lifeline at a time when people need it most.[/p][p]Thank you for reading our story. Here's what it means to the charities you have helped and the difference you are making. We are all very grateful for your donations and messages of support and encouragement.[/p][p]Scott Maxwell, Events Co-ordinator from CHAS, said:[/p][p]“Taking on a marathon is challenge enough, particularly if it’s a first, but on top of that, there was the unprecedented heat. They really have gone above and beyond to make a huge difference to families all across Scotland who face their most challenging of times. When a child has a life-shortening condition every family member is affected. We’re here to support children and families so they can make the best choices about their care and, when the time comes, their end-of-life. Every child and their family should get the care they need so they can make memorable moments of joy, and we couldn’t do that if it wasn’t for people like the Manorview Marathon men and everyone who contributed so kindly. Thank you all.”[/p][p]Judith King, Fundraisers Assistant, When You Wish Upon a Star (Scotland), said: [/p][p]“Huge congratulations to you both! We continue to receive amazing Wishes on a daily basis at our Scotland office. With your support we will be able to continue to grant them. Wishes give families much needed time away from hospital and the gruelling treatments the Wish children face on a daily basis, it not only gives our Wish children the chance of escapism but also gives their parents and siblings the chance to come together as a family and create the most magical memories through what is an exceptionally difficult time in their lives, never knowing what the future will bring or sadly for some children a time where they have such precious little time left. Everyone at When You Wish Upon a Star are truly honoured that Steve Graham & Steve Buckley chose to support our Wish granting work in Scotland. Job done guys we will be granting lots of Wishes thanks to your support and amazing effort at the London Marathon.”[/p][p][br][/p]
