My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my homepage. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me for running the 2016 London Marathon for The Compassionate Friends. I am very lucky to have been chosen by the charity to take the one precious place that they have been awarded in the small charities ballot, and as such this is a very special opportunity to raise vital funds and awareness for this fantastic cause. [/p][p][url=https://www.tcf.org.uk]The Compassionate Friends[/url] is a great organisation that offers support and guidance for family members who have lost a beloved sibling or child. I have had a link with the charity for a few years now, because TCF has been a lifeline for my mum Chris Ford since she joined the charity a year after my beloved brother Adam died at the age of 19 whilst on a working holiday in Zante, Greece, in 2007. The charity has been a rock in terms of support for her in the years since Adam's death and in time she has offered support to other members through running a new support group in South East London.[/p][p][span=letter-spacing: 0px;]I have met lots of bereaved parents and siblings involved in the charity and have seen how their hard work and dedication really helps other bereaved families through the bereavement process and encourages them to move on with their lives. The loss of a sibling or child is one of the most painful experiences that someone can go through, especially if it was sudden, and not many people understand this pain. I think this is why TCF is such a unique and incredible charity, because people who have been in the same situation and who have experienced all those terrible emotions help others to get through their own bereavement, which can be one of the loneliest places and periods of a person’s life. [/span][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][span=letter-spacing: 0px;]TCF has helped my Mum to move forward with her life and become strong once again. She has recently fulfilled her dream of moving to the coast and now runs a successful floristry business. If TCF has given my Mum the confidence and bravery to change so much in her life for the positive, then I just think about all the bereaved parents and siblings that TCF has helped already, and how this can continue for more and more families if I raise money and awareness for the charity by running the marathon in Adam’s name. [/span][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][span=font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]I am not a natural runner and the long distance training will be a real struggle over the coming months, but I am really excited about the challenge! I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations - they will be going to an incredible charity. If you need any more persuasion to donate your hard-earned money, please click on the link to the TCF film “Say Their Name”... an extremely moving, award–winning short film which says it all.  Please donate whatever you can, every little helps and will make such a difference for the charity.[/span][/p][p]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GS9z3dwMhZs[/p][p][span=letter-spacing: 0.0px;][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p]
