[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. The response has been amazing - THANK YOU[/p][p]My Personal Challenge for 2015 was to walk the Llyn Peninnsula Coastal Path, a distance of around 100 miles along Gwynedd's rugged, beautiful and often windswept coast. It was another solo walk this time supported by my two brothers and their wives & families. I started from Porthmadog on Saturday 18th April and walked west and then north through Criccieth, Pwllheli, Abersoch, Aberdaron, Nefyn, Trefor and finished in Caernarfon on Saturday 25th April. ALL monies raised go to the charities - I was entirely self-funded.[/p][p]My main charity this year is Dementia UK, in memory of my grandmother, great-aunt and mother who all succumbed to some form of Dementia. With a pedigree like that I need to raise money for Dementia UK for the care of patients, the support of carer's, together with the promotion of awareness and research to combat this cruel disease. I’ve read many articles and watched many programmes which stress the growing numbers of people who contract some form of dementia – there are currently over 850,000 people living with the condition in the UK - this is expected to increase to 1.1 million by 2025. The longer we live the more chance we have of becoming a victim. Many of you, I know, have a loved one who suffer dementia (though often it is those who are left to watch their decline who suffer), so it’s for all of us that I dedicated my 2015 Walking Challenge. Dementia UK provide specialist Admiral Nurses who give expert support to families living with dementia. They also run a national helpline, Admiral Nursing Direct, open Monday - Friday, 9:15 - 4:45. They can be contacted on 0845 257 9406 or email@example.com [/p][p]Donations have been allocated as follows as it’s thanks to Cancer Research and the WRAC Association that I’m here, fit and able to do this: Dementia UK 80%, WRAC Assoc 10%, Cancer Research UK 10%. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. Please Gift Aid your donation if you are a Tax Payer - it costs you nothing but benefits the charity. If you would like any more information or wish to donate differently please email me at: email@example.com[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
