My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]I have always wanted to run a marathon (don’t ask me why) so this year, at the age of 67, I entered the ballot for the Virgin London Marathon. I had decided early on that should I not get a ballot place I would try to get a charity place with Prostate Cancer UK. As it happens, I received my Acceptance Letter from Virgin London Marathon on 11th October. So I’m in but I still want to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.[/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;] [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]My husband Alan was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in September 2004. It was a shock as he had no symptoms. Fortunately our doctor suggested further tests as his PSA reading had doubled in one year. He underwent Brachytherapy in November 2004 and his PSA readings remain below 0.1. At about the same time my father was also diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and his treatment was watchful waiting and later, hormone injections. Unfortunately he died last year from metastatic prostate cancer.[/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;] [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]Prostate Cancer UK helped us when we needed them. I rang their Helpline and received support and advice which gave us much needed information about which treatment route to take. [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;] [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]All your donations will go to Prostate Cancer UK and will help to fund research into this very common but little talked about cancer. Over 47,000 men in Britain will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year (that's 130 men every day) and over 10,000 will die from it (that's one man every hour).[/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;] [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]I have started training and, since June, have been pounding the pavements three times a week. I am very determined and expect to complete the marathon in April. I am not looking for a fast time, certainly not at my age. Please help me to help Prostate Cancer UK - I will do my best and I am sure you will too. I will keep you informed of my progress.[/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;] [/span][/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-kerning: none;]THANK YOU VERY MUCH.[/span][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]5th February 2017[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]If you want to see how I'm doing, please visit my blog, link below:[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]https://marilynsmarathon.blog[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p] [lt]div[gt][span=font-kerning: none;][lt]br /[gt][/span][lt]/div[gt]
