My story

[p]Thank you for visiting my page, and please support this amazing charity![/p][p]Over the years so many of my friends and family have received treatment at Lingen Davies, including my sister-in-law Kim, my cousin Sarah and my friend and colleague Lin. In the past 12 months alone the charity's facilities have successfully treated my Mum, helped my brother-in-law Wayne work miracles after he was diagnosed with incurable cancer of the pancreas, and they have treated one of my best mates Bryan after he was diagnosed with stomach and oesophagus cancer.[/p][p]We are so lucky to have the Lingen Davies facility in Shropshire. If it wasn't for all the incredible effort of those who run and support it we would all be having to travel to Birmingham or Manchester to receive treatment, or to take loved ones.[/p][p]The past year with Mum, Wayne and Bryan made we want to do something, and it was Wayne and Bryan who inspired me to run the Marathon, Wayne because he was determined to do it last year despite the effect of his aggressive treatment and his struggle with just walking at the time, and Bry through his infectious love of running, inspiring many around him to take it up. He, Wayne and my 81-year-old Mum are incredible examples of how to deal with their situations, Bry and Wayne both so positive and thinking about those family and friends around them and making everyone feel comfortable talking about their cancer, and my indomitable Mum taking up the fight head on - those who know her will know the cancer never stood a chance![/p][p]So here we go - I am unfit but in training, wheezing after a few miles after the Christmas excess, but with a little encouragement from everyone I'll be there at the finishing line in April :)[/p][p]March 9th update: more determined than ever! Seeing Bryan and Wayne's courage just puts into perspective my moans about how appallingly my training is going with muscle strains stopping me train - so far behind schedule but what have I got to moan about? Bring it on! [/p]
