My story

[p]So!![/p][p]I'm sure you will all be aware that the Marathon got postponed this year along with a whole host of other events![/p][p]It got re-scheduled to 4th Oct …and then got cancelled …but not completely![/p][p]It will go ahead this Sunday 4th October ...but in a virtual fashion. Runners all over the country will be doing the distance in their own local surroundings, and recording it on the official app.[/p][p]Participants have the 24 hrs of Sunday to complete the event in anyway they see fit to support the hundreds of charities that have been hit hard this year by all of the cancellations.[/p][p]So ...I have chosen to do the 26.2 miles down the towpath of the Trent & Mersey Canal.[/p][p]I intend to be dropped off near Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire and then run home to Willington.[/p][p]Matthew’s parents also want to get involved, so …all being well (you never know what is round the corner at the moment!) Mark and I will run the first 13 miles, Lynda will then walk approximately 6 miles with me and then I’ll run the remainder back to Willington.[/p][p]…looks like it might be quite a wet day![/p][p][br][/p][p]JDRF are the leading charity for type 1 diabetes; they fund research into a cure and also better ways to manage the condition. My Godson, Matthew, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2010, when he was just six years old. [/p][p]Type 1 diabetes is a life changing, life limiting condition for which there is currently no cure. Someone with type 1 must inject insulin with everything they eat just to stay alive. Additionally, they also have to do multiple blood tests to check the level of glucose in the blood.[/p][p]Type 1 diabetes should not be confused with type 2 diabetes, they are very different conditions. Type 1 can happen to anyone at any time, regardless of lifestyle or age. [/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on behalf of JDRF, where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]To find out more about JDRF and their research and please visit: www.jdrf.org.uk[/p][p]Many thanks for your support in advance,[/p][p]Matthew & Mark[/p]

Well done all of you, a brilliant creative way to raise money for charity, especially as charities are really struggling at the moment; we have to think of different ways to raise much needed funds for our various charities that we support.
