My story

[p]On Saturday 27th October I will be running the Snowdonia marathon in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association and in memory of my uncle Tim O’Rourke. Tim died from Motor Neurone Disease earlier this year. [/p][p]Tim was an inspiration to a huge number of people. Tim was a brilliantly creative and charming character, he was warm, funny and caring. He was a teacher and trainer of teachers in his career and you could not imagine a person better suited to the profession. Tim was one of the inspirations for me to go into teaching and I am very fortunate to have found a vocation that I love and am not sure that would have happened without him.[/p][p]By supporting this run you will be able to support the Motor Neurone Disease Assosication’s work on their three priorities of improving care, funding research and raising awareness of just how devastating MND is. MND is very difficult to diagnose and there is currently no cure. If you would like to find out more about MND please see the link below;[/p][p]https://www.mndassociation.org/about-mnd/where-do-i-start/what-is-mnd/ [/p][p]I appreciate running a marathon might not sound like a challenge, not for a regular runner anyway. However, I can assure you this marathon is the biggest sporting challenge I have ever taken on. Snowdonia marathon is generally considered the toughest road marathon in the UK. It starts with a climb through Pen y Pass, round Beddgelert and completes the rapid climb at Bwlch y Groes before returning to Llanberis. It has an elevation of nearly 3,000 feet and has a flat equivalent distance of the run is 29.32 miles. [/p][p]I would be very grateful for any sponsorship and help you can give to this very important cause.[/p]
