My story

[p]Hi all[/p][p]Thank you so much for opening this link and checking out my cause.[/p][p]It’s been a few years since I asked you to donate to charity on my behalf, all the way back in October 2017, when I ran my first half marathon. Since then my running has progressed and my challenge for 2020/21 starting with Paris in April, is to run one marathon a month for 12 months, hopefully taking in most of the UK with a few international ones thrown in for fun. This is to support two charities; Suicide Crisis and Mind.[/p][p]When I was 8 years old I was raped by one of my father’s best friends. It took me a further 8 years to tell a single person what had happened. [/p][p]When I was about 13 we were evicted from our family home with all our possessions confiscated when it was repossessed; this further lead to my father landing up in prison. [/p][p]When I was 23 my parents committed suicide, together, on 1st July 2002, believing they saw no other way out of their life.[/p][p]To say that my mental health has taken a battering over the years might be an understatement. I was always lucky though, I had my sister, my best friend, by my side. Together we got each other through, supported in no small way by my family and latterly my husband, John. [/p][p]Suicide and poor mental health are related. Add into this the trauma experienced through everyday life and you can have a recipe for disaster. Suicide not only affects the person who has died but also their friends and family, most of whom probably didn’t even know there was a problem.[/p][p]I am completing this challenge to support two charities; Mind and Suicide Crisis. Your donation will be split equally between both. These charities help people in more ways than could ever be imagined. My mental health has improved so much through running. My issues are still there when I get back from a run, but going out and pounding the pavement for a few hours definitely gives me a different way of looking at them! [/p][p]Keep an eye on this page and as and when I’ve confirmed all 12 Marathons, I’ll publish them here…and also when I’ve completed them. If you are a keen runner and would like to run with me, please get in touch.[/p][p]Thank you in advance and please donate as much as you can, as often as you like.[/p][p] [/p][p]Thank you xxx[/p][p][br][/p][p]These are the following Marathons that I will be completing, if you'd like to come and shout me on, pleeaaase do! Or if you're up for a challenge, come run with me??[/p][p][br][/p][p]5th April - Paris[/p][p]17th May - Windermere[/p][p]20th June - Waterford (Ireland)[/p][p]5th July - The Wales Marathon[/p][p]9th August - Isle of Man[/p][p]6th September - Bacchus Wine Marathon (Sussex)[/p][p]4th October - Loch Ness (Scotland)[/p][p]22nd November - Strathclyde Loch (Scotland)[/p][p]6th December - Goodwood Motor Circuit Grand Prix[/p][p]24th January 2021 - Gloucester[/p][p]February 2021 - Seville (Spain)[/p][p]March 2021 - Malta[/p][p]Phew, that's a lot of miles to train for!![/p]

Mark, I'm a colleague of Johns and saw your link on the bottom of his email. I live with a marathon runner (a pretty good one) but your schedule is extraordinary! I hope you find a way of completing it after corona! You are clearly an inspiration.
