My story

[p]Hi. Thanks for taking time to visit my page.[/p][p]I will be running in the 2018 London Marathon, raising much needed money for the British Heart Foundation.[/p][p]On October 23rd 2011, I ran the Stroud Half Marathon, and at the finish line suffered a cardiac arrest. Training had gone well, I was fit and ready for a good run. I'd completed several long distance runs in the build up and was feeling as fit, healthy and confident as I had done for a long time. There was nothing to suggest that I'd suffer a cardiac arrest that day, but I did. [/p][p]I was very, very lucky. If it wasn't for the quick thinking of my brother and the presence of paramedics at the finish line, I wouldn't be alive today. The paramedics restarted my heart and got me breathing again within minutes. I was rushed to hospital, kept in an induced coma for several days and stayed in hospital for several weeks.[/p][p]I didn't expect to suffer a cardiac arrest, nobody does. I was young, fit and healthy. But it happened to me, and it can happen to anybody. I got lucky, but there are many, many people who tragically don't get so lucky. And that's very hard to accept.[/p][p]The British Heart Foundation is leading the fight against coronary heart disease, the UK's single biggest killer. Your donations power their life-saving research. Please help by giving all that you can, and to help me get through 26 miles of pain. [/p][p]Thank you for reading xxx[/p]
