Prudential Ride London

[p]With two replacement knees and two new corneas, I am indebted to the surgeons for their outstanding skills in ensuring that I can cycle again. Without the care and attention I have received over five years I would have been by now, in a wheelchair not knowing where I was going! This is my third charity ride for the Countess of Chester Hospital. [/p][p]Mission accomplished 29th July 2018 with the help of Helen as my Manager. This Charity Ride for COCH was by far the most challenging. Logistically, getting to the start was an event in itself as we waited in the rain for an hour before we got the go ahead to commence. It was in fact a great relief to get started as by now Helen and I were very cold. As for the route, I was really pleased that I negotiated all the hills including Wimbledon, where the crowd egged us on with the cry of "last hill, last hill." Little did I know that I still had 10 miles to go at that stage. Helen managed to track me down in two places at Kingston as I battled on against the heavy rain and wind. [/p][p]My memory of riding up the Mall with cheering crowds is something I will always treasure. The whole event was somewhat surreal, as there are very few opportunities to ride in London on traffic free roads and see all the sights. [/p][p]My thanks go to Helen for her ability to get me where I needed to be!
