My story

[p]I signed-up to cycle from London to Paris in 24 hours on a whim because I thought it would be a good laugh. Since then, two things have happened: 1) I met Emily Crossley who runs Duchenne Children's Trust, a charity which funds research to find a treatment or cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a muscle wasting disease affecting 100s of thousands of children. I found Emily extremely compelling and believe wholeheartedly in the cause: simply put, we can 'End Duchenne in 10'; 2) it occurred to me that 190 miles is actually a very long way to cycle in 24 hours, particularly for someone who was largely designed for swimming - as one of my children put it: 'you are built like a tadpole!' As a consequence I am training very hard for this and feeling quite a lot of pain as a result. Your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated and as a sign of that I will match all donations up to my target. Thanks all. Matt.[/p]
