My story

[p]Hi I'm Matt and I'll be running the Great South Run in October 2018 to raise money for the Doctors' Support Network (DSN), a charity run entirely by volunteers that provides confidential, friendly peer-support for doctors and medical students with mental health concerns. [/p][p]As a doctor myself i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder whilst at university and I am general secretary for DSN. Mental health concerns are sadly very common in doctors and the problem is growing. This has been made worse in recent years by longer hours and increasing workload. [/p][p]By raising awareness of mental health concerns within the medical profession and continuing to provide an excellent peer support service, DSN aims to open a positive dialogue and change the agenda on mental health amongst doctors and the general population.[/p][p]This will be first ever run and I'll be so grateful for any support! [/p][p][br][/p]
