My story

[p]Ey up![/p][p]Hoggy needs you![/p][p]This summer I will be participating in the Great Swim Series for the awe inspiring and amazing cricket development and HIV awareness charity Cricket Without Boundaries. Yes that’s right I’ll be sporting a wetsuit! Watch out ladies![/p][p]I must be mad and stupid as I will be swimming 4/5 of the swims beginning at Lake Windermere 12[sup]th[/sup]/14[sup]th[/sup] July and ending in Loch Lomond Scotland on 29[sup]th[/sup] August.  All details of the event can be found here:[/p][p][url=https://www.greatrun.org/great-swim]https://www.greatrun.org/great-swim[/url][/p][p]CWB has delivered more than 50 projects in nine countries, coached over 130,000 children and trained 3,000 plus coaches which I am sure you will agree is an incredible effort.[/p][p]As well as using cricket to raise HIV/AIDS awareness, CWB also uses cricket to rehabilitate child soldiers in northern Uganda, rebuild communities in post-genocide Rwanda and work with Maasai warriors to empower women against FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) in Kenya.[/p][p]The charity currently visits five African countries on two, two week projects each year.  It also employs ambassadors – local coaches – in their project countries to continue their work between trips.  During 2015 Cricket Without Boundaries will celebrate its 10[sup]th[/sup] Anniversary.  Founded in 2005, CWB currently works in Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana, Kenya and Cameroon.[/p][p]CWB has three main goals:[/p][p]To spread cricket through coaching children and teaching adults how to coach; and[/p][p]•To link the sport to HIV/AIDS awareness and incorporate these messages into coaching sessions.[/p][p]•To bring together and empower local communities through cricket.[/p][p]The money raised through the swims will help to support the work of CWB, particularly their ambassador programme which provides cricket coaching to schools by local coaches throughout the year.[/p][p][b][span=text-decoration: underline;]So basically I am asking you to think about others less fortunate than ourselves and reach into your pockets to give as little or as much as you can, just those 5ps at the bottom of your pocket will do, we are not fussy! [/span][/b][/p][p]Further information on the charity can be found here:[/p][p][url=http://www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com/]www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com[/url][/p][p]Yours in water,[/p][p]Hoggy[/p][p][/p]
