My story

[p]At the age of 40 my father was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, which meant he had to use a dialysis machine 3 to 4 times per week to cleanse his blood of the impurities that correctly functioning kidneys would normally do. Although he was on the transplant list of patients, he was never fortunate to receive a transplant. My father passed away at the age of 54, when I was just 22 and as this disease may be hereditary, I have been monitored and scanned on several occasions, and I am fortunate that I do not have this disease myself.[/p][p][br][/p][p]On turning 40, the age of my father’s diagnosis, I wanted to do something to raise money for the charities that support those affected by kidney disease. I am lucky to be running the 2020 Virgin London Marathon to support Kidney Care UK (www.kidneycareuk.org)[/p][p][br][/p][p]Having only started running approximately a year ago to lose weight, I am happy that I have now lost over two stone (but still have some way to go!!) and have become somewhat fitter and healthier, but the thought of running a marathon is extremely daunting!![/p][p][br][/p][p]The more funding that is received by this great charity the greater support that can be offered and so please spread the word by sharing this with your friends and family. Many thanks in advance for your generosity and support.[/p]
